Decent nudist beaches can be hard to come by. A lot of the nudist beaches people talk about are not nudist beaches really. This means that they do not get too many nudists, and thus if you head there, you will stand out like a sore thumb. Luckily, you have us.

We have searched through hundreds of nudist beaches to put together this list of the 40 best nudist beaches in the world. We have read through countless reviews. Looked at the amenities these places offer, as well as their overall history and scenery. We have even tried to choose a place in every part of the world (some places have no nudist beaches at all, sadly)

If you head to one of these 40 nudist beaches, you will enjoy it. Many of them have a regular nudist community too. Thus, if you are interested in that lifestyle, you may be able to have a ton of fun on these beaches and make a couple of friends. Although, of course, you should always make sure that you are following the proper rules of etiquette when you are on a nude beach. It isn’t just like any other beach, after all.

So, without further ado, let’s jump into this list of the 40 best nudist beaches in the world. We actually suggest you read through this entire list as opposed to just skipping to the country that you live in. You never know what places may give you a couple of ideas for your next vacation destination!

Best Nudist Beaches:

Praia do Pinho, Balneario Camboriu, Brazil

While it is hard to prove, Praia do Pinho make the claim that it was the very first nudist beach in Brazil. Located in a small enclave, this is one of the famous nudist beaches for scenery. It is surrounded by beautiful, green-covered mountains. Of course, this is Brazil for you. This is a country much-famed for its beauty. Bear in mind that this beach is not 100% nude. People are now allowed on the beach clothed, although this is going to be quite rare.

Gunnison Beach, Sandy Hook, New Jersey

Gunnison Beach is the only beach in New Jersey that is legally allowed to operate as a nudist beach. Although, this is more of a ‘clothing optional’ beach. Part of the reason for this is that New Jersey prohibits nudist beaches in the state. However, Gunnison Beach is actually federal land. This is because it sits on a military base. Therefore, federal laws apply to it. While the scenery is not as stunning as some of the other beaches on this list, Gunnison is the only place to get nude in New Jersey.

Playa Es Pregons Gran, Balearic Islands

While Play Es Pregons Gran is not strictly a nudist beach, the seclusion helps to attract a lot of nudists there. It is also not the prettiest of beaches in Mallorca, particularly in this region, so non-nudists do not stick around for all that long. It is going to be a little bit of a long drive if you are staying in Palma, but if you are looking for a ‘smaller’ nudist beach, then this one may be ideal.

Grand Saline Beach – St. Barth

Grand Saline Beach is a surprisingly large beach, and it offers a decent amount of seclusion. Despite this, the low number of nudists in the area means that there will be times when you have a large amount of the beach to yourself. This is actually one of four nudist beaches in St. Barth, but a lot of people say that this one of the best. Do bear in mind that there will be a lack of facilities in the area. Again, part of the reason why this beach isn’t all that populated most of the time. It is still one of the best nudist beaches around.

Elia Beach – Mykonos, Greece

What is better than sunbathing in Greece? Yep! Sunbathing on one of the best nudist beaches. Elia Beach is really easy to reach if you are staying in Mykonos. It boasts gorgeous sand and crystal-clear waters. Visitors to the beach can also enjoy a huge number of facilities too. While it is not a ‘strictly nude’ beach, most of the people on Elia will be nude.

Wannsee, Germany

Wannsee is one of only a few places on this list of the best nude beaches that is not actually by the sea. Wannsee is actually a massive lake in Germany. The largest dedicated swimming area for inland swimming at that. There is no strict nude section around Wannsee. While it is not recommended to go in the height of summer due to all the crowding, Wannsee is great anywhere you head on the lake.

Club Orient, St. Martin

There are very few ‘nudist clubs’ nowadays. Luckily, places like Club Orient exist. This place is strictly for nudists. The community is pretty strong here, but they are more than welcoming of ‘outsiders’. Due to this being a specific nudist colony, there are plenty of facilities for users of the beach to enjoy.

Hedonism II, Negril, Jamaica

Hedonism II in Jamaica is a private beach. It is part of the resort of the same name. This is a clothing-optional resort. Obviously, you will need to pay if you want to head to this one of the famous nude beaches, but it is worth it. This is probably the best nudist place in Jamaica. The community is fantastic, and there is plenty to see and do. Since it is a whole resort, you not just limited to the beach either!

Hidden Beach Resort, Riviera Maya, Mexico

We have another resort for you here. This time in Mexico. This is a luxury resort, and thus the number of people here is kept quite low. The thing we love about Hidden Beach Resort is that it goes way beyond just being a nudist beach. It functions as a full hotel. So, if you wanted a completely nude wedding, the Hidden Beach Resort is more than happy to help you out. And, yes, there are fully nude weddings happening here regularly.

Plakias Beach, Crete, Greece

While Plakias Beach may not be the most beautiful beach in Crete, the surrounding rocky outcrops help to keep the beach nice and secluded. Like many beaches in Greece, this is not going to be a 100% nude beach. It is more ‘clothing optional’. This is one of the lesser populated beaches in the area, so perfect if you want a little bit of space to yourself.

Couples Tower Isle, Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Couples Tower Isle is a 100% private resort in Jamaica. In fact, it is so private that it even has its own island. So, you do not have to worry about non-nudists bothering you. This resort has a surprising number of facilities, and is probably one of the better places in Jamaica for nudists to head if they want a bit of privacy.

Baker Beach, San Francisco

Baker Beach is a larger beach. It is frequented by non-nudists too. It can be found in the northwest of San Francisco. While it is not an official nudist beach, the more-secluded northern part of the place is where nudists ‘hang out’. Although, do bear in mind that a lot of the people here are going to be more clothing-optional types of people. Do not expect everybody to be nude at Baker Beach.

Paradise Beach, Greece

If you have ever partied in Greece, then you will likely have heard of Paradise Beach. It is pretty much ‘party central’. Like most places in Greece, this place is more ‘clothing optional’. It is not an official nudist beach. Since this is more of a party location, you will find that it is mostly those in their young 20s that hang out on Paradise Beach. Although, of course, you will find older people milling about too.

Haulover Beach Park, Miami, Florida

Haulover Beach Park is the largest public nude beach in the United States. In fact, despite being rather small, it manages to attract over 1-million visitors per year. This is, in part, down to the fact that not only is it easy to reach, but it does boast a substantial number of amenities. While it can get quite crowded at times, pretty much everybody does keep to themselves here. Therefore, it shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

Spiaggia di Guvano, Vernazza, Italy

Spiaggia di Guvano may be one of the smaller nude beaches, but it is quite legendary in this part of Italy. This is the perfect nude beach to head to if you fancy a swim, mostly because there isn’t that much of a beach to lay down on. That being said, this fantastic location is well-situation (it is within walking distance of a road), and the rocky outcrops keep you nice and shielded from prying eyes.

Moshup Beach, Martha’s Vineyard, MA

Moshup Beach is an absolutely stunning location. You have the backdrop of open land and multi-colored cliffs. There are very few places more relaxing. Although, do bear in mind that due to local laws, a lot of the parts of the beach will be off limits. This is a large beach with the nudists being located in just one place. It is always a tremendous place to explore, though. Plenty of things to see. You could even dabble in a bit of light fishing if you want, but this is likely to be quite dangerous if nude!

Praia Massarandupio Acute, Bahia, Brazil

The actual nudist part of Praia Massarandupio in Brazil is quite small, but since it is in Brazil, you know it is going to offer a fantastic experience. Since most beaches in Brazil are ‘clothing optional’, this one is a 100% nudist beach. If you want to come to this part of Bahia, then you need to be naked. Of course, if you are willing to do that, then you will be enjoying beautiful sands and beautiful, blue waters. Although, do bear in mind that there are not a lot of amenities at this place.

Sandy Bay, Cape Town, S. Africa

Sandy Bay in South Africa is one of the most famous nudist beaches in the world. Despite this, not a lot of people head there. This is, partly, down to the fact that it can be incredibly difficult to reach for most people. Those that can make the lengthy 20-minute walk over a ton of rocks will be able to enjoy a fantastically sandy white beach that most people tend to steer clear of. In fact, even during the warmest months you may find that you have Sandy Bay to yourself. How cool is that? Your own private beach!

Neve Midbar, North Dead Sea, Israel

Israel doesn’t have that many nudist beaches, which is why Neve Midbar stands out. Since it sits on the Dead Sea, it is a surprisingly unique experience compared to most nudist beaches. After all, how many other nudist beaches are there in the world where you can just float on the water due to the amount of salt in it? Neve Midbar is probably one of those places you should add to your ‘bucket list’ if you are looking for a beautiful, and enjoyable unique experience.

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Mexico

Playa Zipolite is not really a nudist beach. It is a place where nudity is tolerated. However, it is becoming increasingly popular as a nudist beach. However, you should probably bear in mind that there are families here, so some people may turn their nose up at you. This is purely a beach. You shouldn’t be swimming on it, no matter how much you want to. It is said to be quite dangerous. Yes, people do swim, but it is only for the strongest of swimmers.

Playa El Torn, Tarragona, Spain

This Spanish beach is one of the more popular beaches in the country, both nude and otherwise. A section of the beach has been marked off for nudists, but most people can head anywhere here. One of the perks of Playa El Torn is that there is a beach bar where you do not have to put your clothes on first. There are surprisingly very few nudist beaches out there which offer facilities like this. So, if you do not fancy putting on clothes at all, then Playa El Torn should be on the agenda.

Mpenjati Beach, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

At 250-meters long, Mpenjati Beach in South Africa is hardly the longest beach in the world. Although, that doesn’t matter. It is one of the best in the country. It is not only nice and secluded, but it is a fully nude beach. You can really feel relaxed while you are on it. It is a fairly new nudist beach too, only opening up in 2014. As a result, there are still a lot of people that have yet to discover this little gem on the coast of South Africa.

Cap d’Agde beach, France

When a beach sits on the Mediterranean coast, you know it is going to be good. It doesn’t matter whether it is a nudist beach or otherwise. The part of the beach designated for nudists is actually a small nudist colony. You may need to pay an entry fee. However, because of this, you know that it is going to be a proper nudist beach. You are going to be far, far away from all of those prying eyes that some of the more public beaches seem to have.

Ahlbeck Beach, Germany

Ahlbeck Beach is regarded as one of the most beautiful beaches in Germany. Sadly, however, it does not have the popularity that it deserves. Although, we suppose that this is something that could be good for the average nudist because it means that you do not need to worry about too much space being taken up. The only time Ahlbeck Beach is going to get crowded is on the hottest days of the year. The rest of the time, there will be plenty of space to go around.

Plage de Tahiti, France

If one nudist beach deserves the title ‘hidden gem’, it has to be Plage de Tahiti in France. You can barely find it, unless you know what you are looking for. Although, it has started to become more popular as of late. Despite this, it is actually one of the cleaner beaches in this part of France. That is really saying something too, since most of the beaches around here are quite clean. It has a nice French charm too, even if it can be a little bit tricky to find.

Little Beach, Maui, Hawaii

Trees and mountains surround this beach in Hawaii, so you can enjoy a proper amount of privacy. While it is not 100% a nude beach, most of the people around here will be fully nude. Do bear in mind that there are watersports in this area. Although, you can even engage in those nude if you want. It isn’t going to be the largest nudist beach in the world, but there is always a decent amount of space to move around, even when it is quite hot out, so this likely will not be a problem.

Platja des Cavallet, Ibiza, Spain

Ibiza is a party island so, as you may expect, the Platja des Cavallet beach is going to be a ton of fun to hang around on. The beach is split into three sections. One of these is dedicated to topless sunbathers, the other nudist, and the other for clothed people. So, make sure that you have the right part of the beach! If you head to the nudist part, you will be enjoying a good amount of privacy with other likeminded individuals.

Collins Beach, Portland, Oregon

There are two clothing-optional beaches in Oregon. Collins Beach is one of them and regarded as the better of the two. This beach sits right on a nature reserve, so you will essentially be sitting on a beautiful beach, completely surrounded by trees. It is a rather tranquil experience. Lots of nudists do visit the beach. However, many people are keen to point out that there are parts of this beach that are private. It is vital that you do not wander onto that private part, particularly if you are nude. The property owners loathe it.

Anse de Grande Saline, St. Barts

If you enjoy the thought of a bit of nude snorkeling, the Anse de Grande Saline in St. Barts may be right up your street. While only a small part of this beach is designated as being ‘clothing optional’, you can at least go topless on the vast majority of the area. This is because there never seems to be all that many people kicking about on the beach. Those that do head here tend to be nudists or those doing watersports, so they never really care what you look like. Although, on the busier days, try to stick to the designated nudist area.

Es Trenc, Majorca, Spain

Es Trenc is a rather long beach in Majorca. Like most of the other beaches on this list, only a small part of the beach has been designated for nudists. Although, this is Spain. You can go topless pretty much anywhere on the beach. Although, do bear in mind that the area is mostly a family area, so try not to go overboard. This is the perfect beach to be on if you are a fan of swimming. The water is nice and shallow, and the waters are almost always calm. It is a rather relaxing experience.

Red Beach, Crete, Greece

If you are looking for beautiful beaches that look a little bit different from the norm, then Red Beach in Crete is probably worth checking out. This stunningly beautiful beach boasts red rocks and red sand. It has a tremendously unique look. A small part of the beach has been set aside for nudists, but if you are a woman going topless, you can pretty much head anywhere. This is a great nudist beach if you want to experience a different type of scenery from your typical white sandy beaches.

Valalta, Rovinj, Croatia

Valalta in Croatia is not just a nude beach, it is a complete nude camping experience. Yes, you will need to pay to have access to the nudist beach. However, as we mentioned previously on this list, when you have to pay to enter a nudist beach, it makes sure that it only attracts the genuine nudists. Since this is essentially a nudist campground, there are a lot of amenities here, and plenty to enjoy if you want to spend a couple of nights!

Wreck Beach, Vancouver, Canada

Wreck Beach is clothing-optional. So, it is frequented by nudists and non-nudists alike. This is probably not a beach that you would be heading to if you are looking for a relaxing experience. It never gets that warm. It is in Canada, after all. The beach does have a lot of rocks on it too, so make sure that you have something to relax on! However, this is one of the only nudist beaches in Canada, and it is certainly the best of them. So, if you are Canadian and looking for an awesome nudist beach, then this is probably the best one for you.

Samurai Beach, Australia

When a beach has the name ‘Samurai Beach’, you just know it is going to be good. This is one of only a few clothing-optional beaches in Australia. This means that it will be heavily frequented by nudists. However, Australia has a lot of space. It seems that no matter how busy Samurai Beach ends up getting, there will always be a decent amount of space that you can just kick back and relax without anybody bothering you. Of course, the beach also has that typical Australian charm for you to enjoy. Oh, and the epic Australian scenery thrown in for good measure.

Buhne 16, Sylt, Germany

Yep. Another nude beach in Germany. It seems as if this is a country that is really accepting of nude beaches. Unlike the other German ones we have talked about, however, Buhne 16 is a dedicated nudist beach. This means that you shouldn’t be wearing clothes if you are here. Yes. The beach is going to be a little bit on the small side, and it does get quite popular on occasion. However, the size of the beach means that you can really enjoy talking to fellow nudists. Believe us, they have stories to tell!

Hippie Hollow, Austin, Texas

If you live in Texas, then you will know that you really do not have that many options available when it comes to nudist beaches in the state. In fact, when it comes to public nudist beaches, Hippie Hollow is the only option. Luckily for nudists, this is one of the best looking nudist beaches in the world. The white sand is nicely secluded by the surrounding green trees. There is plenty of space to move about too. While it can be a bit difficult to reach once you have parked in the area, Hippie Hollow is a short distance from the center of Austin, which means it is the perfect place to go if you are on a getaway trip.

Lady Bay Beach, Sydney, Australia

It isn’t often that tourist boards actually advertise places as nudist beaches, but that is exactly what happens with Lady Bay Beach. This is a heavily marketed nudist beach a short hop from Sydney. However, you should probably bear in mind that it is not all about the nudity. A lot of people take scenic walks in the area, although the actual nudist parts of the beach are well secluded by small cliffs. It is not even that difficult to reach the beach, which is nice. Some of the better nudist beaches in the world can be tough to reach, after all.

Agesta nude beach

Agesta nude beach is just a short distance from Stockholm. Since it is one of the only nudist beaches in Sweden, and also located in one of the most populated parts of the country, it gets a lot of visitors. Although, do bear in mind that this is probably one of the most difficult places to find on this list. It is not signposted well at all. The great thing about Agesta nude beach is that it looks stunning. It is just on the outskirts of a heavily forested area, so it boasts a look like no other nudist beach. This is well worth a visit if you are a naturist near Stockholm.

Black’s Beach, La Jolla, California

We have another Californian ‘clothing optional’ beach for you here. For a rough idea of the location, you can find Black’s Beach about 1-mile from the La Jolla Shores beach, so it shouldn’t be tough to reach for most people. For a long while, this was one of the most famous nude beaches in the United States. This is because Black’s Beach was the only place in the country where you could be public and nude. This has, obviously, changed since then. This isn’t a place where you should head if you want to swim. It is great for surfing, though. It is one of the best locations in California for that.

Bellevue Beach, Denmark

Bellevue Beach in Denmark has a ton of history behind it. Not just as a nude beach, but it was vital to the development of the country in the 30s. Nowadays, it is an exceedingly popular beach. It is a well-built up area too. The architecture is all from the 1930s, and it is one of the more unique looking places in Copenhagen. This is a clothing-optional beach, so you will likely see clothed families around here, although many of them now head to some of the other beaches in Copenhagen instead.
