By now, you will likely have heard that one of the biggest names in porn history, Ron Jeremy, has been charged with sexual assault and rape. Now, since we have not seen the evidence, we cannot determine whether he is guilty or not of the crime that he has been charged with. That is something for the courts to decide. What we can do, however, is give you an overview of the charges that have been laid against him.
WHO IS RON JEREMY?
Ron has been active in the sex industry since 1979. This means that you are likely to have seen at least one movie that he has acted in, even if you do not recognize that he was Ron Jeremy.
He is one of the most prolific of adult entertainers. He currently holds the Guinness World Record for the most number of porn films to have been starred in by a single person. He is currently sitting at well over 2,000 movies. Since many people are not staying in the business for decades at a time nowadays, it is likely that Ron is going to hold this record for a long time.
Outside of this, Ron has had major documentaries made about him (The Legend of Ron Jeremy in 2001), starred in countless adverts (namely for PETA), as well as acted as a consultant on non-porn related movies.
WHAT HAPPENED?
It is alleged that during the attendance of several adult sex conventions, Ron Jeremy would often grope the woman that he came close to. A lot of this behavior took place on the convention floor. Claims indicate that he would regularly try to force his fingers inside of women. There is also a limited number of complaints that he took his behavior too far in private. This includes a claim that he forcibly raped somebody in his home, as well as two forcible rapes at a bar in Hollywood.
It is worth noting that a good number of these claims have been made by people who work in the sex business. This includes popular cam girls. Although, we do want to point out that none of the claims seem to come from people who Ron had sex with on his movie sets. Although, it is unlikely that there will ever be any claims for that. It is likely that the bulk of his porn work took place in a time that is now outside of the statute of limitations. This means that while somebody may be able to make a complaint about his behavior at the time, it is unlikely that they will be able to file any charges against him.
It is worth noting that the police claim that they were investigating Ron for sexual assault for at least two years before charges were filed against him.
WHEN DID THIS ALL START?
The claims against Ron started at some point near the end of June. However, all of the sexual assault complaints stem from various points across the years.
As with most sexual assault claims, once one is filed, the rest of the people who believe they have a case will start to feel confident enough to talk about their story. This is why we often find claims from various events over the course of several years start to appear at the same time. This is not because it is a coordinated effort, as some would have you believe. Instead, it is because people are feeling confident that they are able to share their story.
At the time of writing, there has been around a dozen claims made against Ron Jeremy, and then police believe there may be more to come. We do not know when these claims stem from as that information has not been released. However, we do know that all of the claims must come from before 2017. This is because Ron was banned from adult sex conventions around that time. This was after a campaign against him for the behaviour he exhibited while he was attending these events. We also know that the charges cannot be more than a couple of decades old, otherwise the statute of limitations would apply and nobody would be able to bring charges for those cases against him.
WHAT ARE THE CHARGES?
At the moment, there have been four charges filed against Ron Jeremy. These charges are related to four separate incidents with four separate women. It is unknown as to whether further charges will be filed in the future. Although, it is safe to say that it won’t be in the near future. If they were to be filed, it is likely that they would have all be done at the same time. There is a good chance that charges may also be held back.
The bulk of the charges against Ron are for rape. He has three counts of forcible rape against him. This does _not _mean that he has been charged with putting his penis into somebody. Instead, the rape charges are for digital penetration (i.e. with the fingers). The fourth and final charge against him is for forced oral sex. We do not know the exact situation that this oral sex took place, but one could assume that it did not take place in the convention hall.
As we said; his prosecutor is making no secret of the fact that further charges may be filed in the future. In fact, he is effectively hinting at the fact that there is evidence to file charges against Ron on several more counts of rape and sexual assault, although they are not going to charge him quite yet. One could assume that the evidence they have is not quite ‘there’ in these cases. However, if something does happen, then we will be more than happy to update you. You really need to know everything that is going on inside of this industry.
HOW DID HE PLEAD?
Ron Jeremy pleased ‘not guilty’ to all of the charges laid out against him. This means that the case is likely going to court in the near future. This is where we will start to hear some of the evidence that people have against Ron. It is worth noting that he has only been charged with four counts of sexual assault, despite accusations from far more women than this. It is not known whether charges are going to be filed from the other women, or whether there is a lack of corroborating evidence there. However, there is a good chance that the prosecutors may opt to file charges on those at a later date. This is normally the case when it comes to sexual assault, as it means if Ron Jeremy is found ‘not guilty’ on some of the charges, they will have other cases that they can bring charges against.
How the court case will play out is anybody’s guess. However, since we are in the midst of COVID-19, and the courts are not operating at their full capacity as a result, it is unlikely that we will see a decision made any time soon.
His bail is currently set at $6.6-million, and we doubt that Ron Jeremy is going to be able to afford the costs of bail. Porn does, of course, pay well when you are a big star. However, he was a big star a good few decades ago now. As a result, his income is likely to be fairly limited. This means that we can expect Ron Jeremy to be sitting in a prison until his trial date.
WHAT COULD HAPPEN IF HE IS FOUND GUILTY?
If Ron is found guilty, then he would be looking at a substantial stretch of time in prison. It is likely that more companies that he has worked with in the past will also cut ties with him. This is something that already seems to be happening, despite a verdict not having been reached. No matter what happens in the end, his career is effectively over. This means that he is unlikely to appear at any more conventions.
In the interests of balance, we do want to point out that similar allegations have been made against Ron in the past. While his agent did drop him due to this situation, his agent has been keen to point out in several interviews that there have been at least two allegations made about Ron in the past. Both of these were discovered to be false claims. However, we do want to point out that neither of these cases involved formal charges being filed by the police. They were, instead,
